DESCRIPTION:
APW - Ball Hamilton, rare agent marked watch with "B.H. Stief Co., Nashville, Tenn." marked mvt and dial, Official RR Standard, Grade 999B, 17J, 18S, gold-filled OF recase, white enamel SS dial, distinctive Ball style pierced hour and minute hands, SW-LS, bull's-eye pattern nickel damascene, s#14036. The B.H. Stief Co. was an authorized sales agent for Ball watches, and Steif was also a railroad watch inspector for the Louisville and Nashville Railroad. Although Ball had a widespread network of sales agents that watches were marked for, based on the scarcity of observed examples it is apparent that the total output of these agent marked watches was quite low and the number of watches that were made for any individual agent was very low.
